All you Need to Know about Dentures

Many people live a full and exciting life while using dentures, but what are they exactly? And are you a candidate for them? Dentures are prosthetics for the mouth that replace missing teeth. They are fabricated by a dental laboratory by prescription from a dentist only.  Your West Palm Beach Concierge dentist, Dr. Melisande Wolff, will first complete an exam of your current dentition and overall oral health. Next she will take molds of your mouth and then prescribe a custom made denture which is made to fit your mouth only. Typically there are a few try-in visits before the final denture is made. At the final visit you’ll get your custom fit denture and then use it to confidently speak, eat and smile again!

Missing Some of your Teeth? Get a Partial Denture!

Over time, you can lose multiple teeth due to decay, a bite that is not correct (malocclusion) or even grinding down your teeth over the years. Once you’ve lost these teeth,  how can you fill the space? Well, if you’re missing multiple teeth then a partial denture is a good option. You are only missing part of your dentition, so to fill in the spaces, a partial denture snaps onto your existing teeth (assuming they are healthy enough to support a partial denture), and then you can chew away to your heart’s content!

Missing All of your Teeth? Get a Full Denture!

If you have no teeth remaining in either the top or bottom jaw of your mouth, then you’re a candidate for a full denture. This can either be custom made to sit on top of your gums and bone ridge that is there. Or you can get a few dental implants and snap the full denture onto those to ensure stability when you’re speaking or eating food. Either way, you can change your life by getting back your smile with a full denture!
